You want a quick but elegant holiday project. But you don't know where to start. What pattern to pick? What fabrics will work? What if I have questions because I am not sure about the instructions? If I finish it, how do I quilt it?
I don't want another unfinished object. I want a centerpiece this holiday season!
01
Color choices, you know what you like. Your color combinations never seem to come out quite right. They just lack the coordination you want.
02
You have tried foundation paper piecing before, but you got frustrated. You felt like you wasted a ton of paper and made a huge mess. Or you were too unsure to even try.
03
You managed to make the top. And that is where you had to stop. You just weren't sure how to quilt it. You could stitch in the ditch, but it doesn't seem right. You don't want to pay for someone else to it. And you really don't want to ruin it by experimenting.
some quilters make it look so easy
I will never forget my first retreat. I was excited about a new pattern that I planned to work on. Unfortunately, I didn't know what I didn't know. I went to the retreat ill prepared. When I realized I was in a jam, I asked an experienced quilter for some help. She quickly answered my question with five word and walked away. Those five words were "use the freezer paper technique."
I wasn't sure I knew what freezer paper was, let alone have any with me. I needed more information, and she certainly wasn't in a mood to give it to me. This was at least a decade before you could "google" the answer or look it up on "YouTube."
I spent years attending classes through my guild and experimenting.
And you get the benefit of my hard work. I will tell you right off that freezer paper (heavy paper with a waxy coating on one side) is often used by butchers. It is a staple for quilters like me. It has so many wonderful uses. And this class will show you how to use that particular paper to make quilt blocks with crisp points.
This technique beats traditional paper piecing because you don't risk ripping your seams. Nor do you waste paper. Nor do you need tweezers or a squirt bottle to fish little scraps of paper out of your seams. It is so neat you may never go back to regular paper again.
